Thailand The Land
Of Smiles
Thailand is now regarded as one of the world’s top tourist destinations. From
low budget backpackers through to lovers of five star quality and service,
the country has something for everyone.
Bangkok boasts some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and was
recently recognized by ‘Travel & Leisure’ magazine’s
readers as the world’s second most desirable city to visit.
The country boasts several five star destinations, from Phuket and Koh
Samui in the south, to Hua Hin and Pattaya in the central part of the
country, to Chiang Mai in the north.
Thailand’s beaches and diving locations are
recognized as some of the best in the world and thousands of tourists
descend to the south of the country every year, to enjoy the long stretches
of clean white sand and the clear blue waters.
If you love diving, Krabi and several other southern locations are world
renowned for the outstanding quality of their clear water and spectacular
reefs.
Culture & Cuisine
Religion and monarchy are the cornerstones of Thai culture, and they
permeate everyday life. It's the custom to stand for the royal anthem
before films are shown, and the national anthem is played across towns,
villages and even Bangkok Skytrain stations twice daily.
The King of Thailand is devoutly revered by the population and respect
for the monarchy should be respected at all times.
The country is scattered with literally thousands of beautiful Buddhist
temples, or Wats, built in the traditional Thai style, and all towns
and villages have numerous shrines varying in size and style.
Buddhist monks, dressed in their familiar saffron robes, are a regular
sight throughout the country and are regarded with the utmost respect
by all.
Thailand's cuisine is regarded by many people as one of the best in
the world. And, if variety is the spice of life, you can literally have
a different meal every day of the year.
Almost all Thai food is cooked with fresh ingredients, including vegetables,
poultry, pork, fish and some beef. Lime juice, lemon grass and fresh
coriander give the food its characteristic tang, while liberal helpings
of fresh chillies are used to add some fire to many dishes. Fresh,
delicious seafood is widely available throughout the country.
Friendly and Safe
Thailand is a very friendly country and is regarded as one of the safest
tourist destinations anywhere in the world.
Families are more than welcome in all tourist resorts and a safe, secure
environment is provided for all the family to have a great holiday.
Crime is relatively low in Thailand compared to western countries, and
crime against tourists is almost completely unheard of.
Climate & Weather
Thailand's climate is tropical – temperature
and humidity levels can be very high. April and May are the hottest
months of the year and June usually sees the beginning of the rainy
season, which continues until around the end of October.
From November to the end of February the climate is much more bearable
with a noticeable drop in both temperature and humidity levels. This
is also the main tourist season, and the best time to visit Thailand.
